A wonderful
land, with deep roots in history, named Constanta , lies in
the South Eastern part of Romania.
From these blessed places did St.
Andrew begin Christianizing Europe’s nowadays people.
The richness, the diversity and also
the value of the historical traces left on this magic place
certify altogether the origins of the Romanian people, born
from the ancient Dacians and Romans, but also bearing
different racial influences, coming from the Turks, Greeks,
Armenians, Byzantines and Macedonians – people who used to
migrate towards here, drawn by the richness of these places.
The region’s geographical generosity,
with smooth beaches, plains and plateaus covered with noble
vineyards, with lakes, lagoons and estuaries, neighboring
the remains of the Hercinic Mountains, the oldest ones in
all Europe, appeal to a minute exploration of a natural
environment, preserved for over two thousand years.
All these beauties are put at the
disposal of the visitors wiling to see such a special place.
In deep connection with the
historical testimonies, the sea’s coast offers – starting
with Mamaia, the best illustration for the touristic
proposals- an impressive number of seaside resorts, such as
Eforie, Techirghiol, Costinesti, Neptun, Olimp, Jupiter, Cap
Aurora, Venus, Saturn and Mangalia.
Constanta county, together with
Tulcea county, belong to the ancient Dobrogea region, placed
on Pontus Euxin’s West side (today’s Black Sea). The cities
of this region trace their origins back in the antic Greek
times. Thus, today’s Dobrogea region are the oldest ones in
Romania : the old city of Tomis (presently named Constanta)
celebrated 2500 years of existence in 1991 and also 2250
years from its first documentary testimony; Callatis (Mangalia),
Histria, Axiopolis (Cernavoda).
Along the centuries, life in Dobrogea
has evolved in deep connection both with Roman’s history but
also with different civilization's, being an important
crossroad for the Western and the Eastern cultures.
