Mamaia
Romanian seaside’s pearl, Mamaia is located on the sandy shores that
separates Black Sea’s salty waters from the sweaty ones of Siutghiol
Lake.
The
resort’s beach, the biggest one in Romania, stretches on about 8 km
(from Perla Hotel to Hanul Piratilor) and its width varies between 100
m-200 m in its Northern part and 50 m –100 m in its Southern one.
The resort
owns fancy hotels and restaurants and also the most important
entertainment park on the whole Romanian seaside, which includes sport
domains, nautical grounds, Aqua Magic, telegondola, summer theatre,
cinema, bars, discos, beauty and relaxation centers.
Eforie Nord
After Mamaia, Eforie
Nord is the Romanian seaside’s second resort in matter of range and
accommodation.
It is
situated on a 30m height cliff, on the very ground which separates
Techirghiol Lake from the Black Sea. The beach stretches on a 4 km
length, reaching 400m width at its Southern end.
The
existence here of Techirghiol Lake, with its curative and
therapeutically qualities together with several treatment basis, have
rendered restfulness and recovering qualities to the resort.
Eforie Sud
Eforie Sud is the Black
Sea’s most stretched resort and was declared “balnear resort” in 1928.
The beach
lies on 1km length, being sheltered by a number of two cliffs. The
treatment sector is organized in specific balnear sanatoriums for
rheumatism, skin diseases and other alterations of the central
pheripherical nervous system.
The hotels
are concentrated in the Northern part of the resort, near the Casino.
Techirghiol
Much like Eforie,
Techirghiol is recommended for treatment and rest. The resort is very
well known for the miraculous and curative qualities of its sapropelic
mud and of its salty lake’s water; another place of high interest here
is St. Mary monastery, built in the 18th century, in Maramures, most
important landmark for the Romanian Orthodoxy.
Costinesti
At 31 km from Constanta,
on a sunny land most of the time during summer, is to be found
Costinesti – “youth’s headquarters during summer holidays”.
The
resort’s quick development is due to the large number of students and
pupils who choose Costinesti as their holiday destination.
Apart from
the beach, Costinesti also offers bungalows and discos, together with a
series of cultural and artistic events.
Olimp
Built in a
Western fashion, Olimp resort has 8500 accommodations in 2 and 3
category hotels and 500 camping places. The ‘Amfiteatru, panoramic and
Belvedere” complex is to be found here, the biggest and most beautiful
touristic complex on the Romanian seaside. Other hotels bear traditional
names of Romanian districts: Moldova, Transilvania, Oltenia, Muntenia.
Neptun
Neptun is
located between the Black Sea’s beach and Comorova forrest.2 and 3 range
hotels, villas, restaurants, bars and discos are to be found here, in an
area with luxuriant vegetation. Over 50.000 Romanian and foreign
tourists choose to spend their holidays here each year.
Jupiter
Being
formed by high capacity hotels on the seaside shore and
low buildings in its central part, Jupiter offers 8500 accommodations in
2 range hotels and other 1500 vacant places in bungalows.
Cozia and
Tismana hotels bring along a touch of historical architectural elements
in the modern like surroundings. The structural equilibrium is completed
by the vertical and supple shapes of the big hotels : Olimpic, capitol,
atlas, Cometa etc.
Cap Aurora
Cap
aurora is the youngest resort of the Black Sea coast, located on a shore
of 1km length and 250m width, between Jupiter at North and Venus at
South. Not by hazard are the 10 hotels here named after precious stones
Onix, Coral, Safire, Rubin etc , being shaped in form of an enormous
amphitheatre, All the hotels have restaurants of its own and easy access
to the beach. Specific to the resort is “catunul” complex, where folk
shows take place frequently.
Venus
Venus is located in the Southern part of the seaside shore , between Cap
Aurora and Saturn . Venus fully deserves its name, taken after the
ancient beauty goddess: the central lake (around which many villas were
built, in a general atmosphere of tranquility and intimacy). Another
suggestion of beauty is given by the feminine names given to the hotels
: Carmen, Raluca, Irina, Corina, Anca, Diana.
The vegetation gives the resort the aspect of an immense botanical
garden.
Saturn
Saturn’s attraction points are its numerous bars and discos - situated
in the open air, on the beach or at the top floors of the hotels- its
beach and last but not least, its highly competitive prices for
accommodation.
Mangalia
With over 44.500
inhabitants, Mangalia is the second biggest city in the region, being
located at 40 km distance from Constanta and 14 km from the Bulgarian
border. Mangalia is a watering and climatic resort, opened all year
long, with a history of more than 2000 years, enjoying a special
climate, similar to the Mediterranean one, with the highest average of
air temperature in the country.
The watering treatment can be taken in any period of the year, combining
the specific marine elements with the existence of sparkling springs,
discovered and used since the Romans’ expansion. Among many interesting
touristic sights, we mention one of the oldest mosque in Romania
(1590), the Archeological Museum which hosts relics found in the area
and also the ruins of the ancient Callatis fortress.
Vama Veche – 2 Mai
The coastal zone 2 Mai-Vama Veche is not just a place suitable for sun
bathing; unfortunately, its true value is little known and it consists
of a real return to nature’s elements. Vama Veche’s beach is 30-40m
width and 700m length. The specific form of accommodation here is in
tents and bungalows, being preffered by the numerous young people and
artists who choose to spend their holiday apart from the civilization’s
restraints.
culori, originala vegetaţie a sălbaticelor stepe dobrogene
de odinioară. Poetul Ovidiu, exilat la Tomis acum aproape 2000
de ani, ne-a lăsat primele informaţii despre acest loc în
nemuritoarele sale “Tristia” şi “Epistulae ex
Ponto”.
